5 More Road Trips Where You Won’t Need AC

It’s easy to look forward to warm summer sunshine in the dead of winter. In some areas of the country, the August heat is sweltering with homeowners reminiscing or wishing for the cooler days.

Imagine cruising around in your car during the summer months and not needing to blast the air conditioning. Believe it or not, places like this do exist! Aire Serv has compiled five more (read up on our first five spots here!) road trip destinations in North America where you won’t need air conditioning.

Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park, located in Montana, is considered one of the most beautiful parks the United States has to offer. Take a drive on Going-to-the-Sun Road, a 52-mile highway that crosses the Continental Divide. You’ll definitely want to roll your windows down! Glacier is equipped with more than 700 miles of hiking trails, so you’ll never run out of park to explore. Looking to cool off on the lake? Check out Lake McDonald, the largest lake in the park and one great for water activities like kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.

Wisconsin Dells

There’s no way you’ll need air conditioning in the waterpark capital of the world! Wisconsin Dells is known for their waterparks, like Mt. Olympus and Noah’s Ark, but offers several other attractions as well. The 2,200-acre Mirror Lake State Park features hiking trails, a beach and a lake with canoe rentals. Spend some more time on the lake at Lake Delton for the Tommy Bartlett Show, featuring jaw-dropping stunts, acrobatics and water-skiers! Water activities or not, Wisconsin is cool in the summertime – step outside and embrace the breeze!

Seattle, Washington

Make your way to the northwest and visit Seattle this summer! Visit Pike Place Market, one of the oldest continuously operated farmers’ markets in the country (Don’t forget to stop by the gum wall!). If you’re feeling hungry, barbecue in Gas Works Park, a 19.1-acre public park that was formerly a gasification plant. Visit Mt. Rainier National Park for wildflower meadows, hiking trails and beautiful views of the mountain. Missing the air conditioning? Step inside for an afternoon at “MoPOP,” or The Museum of Pop Culture!

North Pole, Alaska

It’s Christmas all year round! Alaska is known for its breathtaking scenery and wildlife, but did you know it’s also home to Santa Claus? Take a trip to North Pole, a small Alaskan city outside Fairbanks. Meet the jolly man himself at the Santa Claus House, a top attraction in Interior Alaska that has welcomed visitors for more than 60 years. There’s no way you could be hot when driving down streets called “Kris Kringle Drive” and “Mistletoe Lane!” While you’re in the state, consider taking a glacier tour, or visiting the Aurora Ice Museum, the world’s largest year-round ice environment!

Vancouver, British Columbia

Grab some friends and caravan to Canada! Vancouver is home to an array of outdoor activities. Visit the Canadian Rockies, or the Canadian segment of the North American Rocky Mountains. For an adrenaline rush, walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge, stretching 450 feet across and 230 feet above the Capilano River. Looking for a more urban experience? Visit Stanley Park, North America’s third largest park located in Downtown Vancouver. There are several family-friendly activities to choose from, including a walk along the stunning seawall or a visit to the Vancouver aquarium!

Roll down your windows and turn off the AC – these northern destinations are perfect for keeping cool in the car this summer! However, if you’re sticking around in the heat and your AC unit could use a pick-me-up, Aire Serv is happy to help.
